The book of the year for Wednesday Nights is Radical Acceptance by Tara Brach, Ph.D. On the 2nd Wednesday of each month we dive into a new chapter. In December, we are exploring "Realizing Our True Nature." You are invited to purchase the book from our bookstore and read along or simply show up to be inspired to "embrace your life with the heart of the Buddha."

Cassandra Rae, MA, LSP is the Director of Community Engagement at New Thought Center for Spiritual Living. She is a Licensed Spiritual Practitioner and a ministerial student at the School for Spiritual Leadership. In addition, she has degrees in Business Administration and Counseling Psychology. She believes that your humanity is the path of your Divinity. As a speaker, teacher, and writer she provides a unique blend of peaceful yet powerful guidance sharing spiritual principles and practices that enable you to live your most authentic, purposeful, and creative life.

Larry Wilder brings the heart and soul of Americana music and engages all ages with traditional and original songs, compelling stories and stellar musicianship on guitar and banjo. Audiences always feel part of our rich music heritage as they sing along with Larry. Larry is a U. S. Yodeling Champion.

Shelley Mathewson

Shelley Mathewson is an active freelance performer and teacher in the Portland area, performing with the Portland Opera, Delphinium String Quartet, and Madrona Viola Duo. Shelley received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and played with the Omaha Symphony prior to moving here in 1987.

Ariana Mengis

Ariana sings alto in the NTCSL Choir. In addition to singing with the choir, she also performs back-up with featured artists at Wednesday and Sunday services.

Gary Skye

Gary Skye has studied piano at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Eastman School of Music, Stanford University, University of Southern California, and most recently, Portland State University where he earned his master’s degree in piano performance. Gary’s work as a church musician began at Santa Rosa Center for Spiritual Living where he also attended as a child. He’s served as a pianist, organist, and vocalist in various churches including San Jose CSL and Whole Life CSL. Gary has worked as a staff accompanist and vocal coach for many organizations and academic institutions, including Sonoma State University, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan. In addition to his service through the music ministry at New Thought CSL, Gary maintains an active teaching studio of piano and vocal students and is a prolific composer of spiritual songs and chants.


Since joining this spiritual community four years ago, I no longer think of myself as a chronically ill person. I am well in mind, body, and spirit.
