Satsang means ‘“association with the wise.” Meditating together in a group creates a strong spiritual atmosphere which allows a deeper experience of meditation. In Satsang, people of different levels practice together – from newcomers to experienced teachers.
The meditation and satsang (spiritual fellowship) group is sanctioned by the Blue Mountain Center of Meditation. Drop-ins are welcome. Regular attendees are asked to read and follow Passage Meditation by Eknath Easwaran.
In passage meditation, we choose a spiritual passage that embodies our highest ideals, memorize it, and then go through the words slowly, silently, and with concentration.
However, meditation alone is not enough to train the mind. It is an all-day job. Accordingly, this fellowship follows the allied disciplines detailed in Easwaran’s book. Wayne Dyer said, “To me, Easwaran is a celestial light on this planet.” Deepak Chopra commented, “His books offer timeless wisdom, a great reference for healing in our contemporary world.”
Facilitated by Arvin Paranjpe:
Arvin is one of two Blue Mountain Center of Meditation Satsang Coordinators in the Portland area. He has been practicing passage meditation every day for at least thirty minutes a day for about over seven years. As a Satsang coordinator, he does not teach meditation, he merely holds the space for the Satsang to gather.
