Pastoral Care at New Thought Center for Spiritual Living offers spiritual care to all who can use support during times of loss, illness, and personal and/or family crisis Through prayer, hospital and home visits that provide personal, respectful spiritual support, counseling services and practitioner support, members experience a sense of community caring in time of need.

Purpose & Mission

To provide compassionate, caring support and spiritual comfort to congregants who are experiencing any of life’s transitions and the familiar trials that characterize daily life. It is a ministry of presence, which is centered in caring acceptance, a non-judgmental stance and physical and emotional availability. It is focused on healing, guiding, supporting, reconciling, nurturing, liberating and empowering people in whatever situation they find themselves.

At New Thought Center for Spiritual Living we believe in the power of prayer. You can entrust your prayer requests with us. We are honored to pray with you, knowing that God is the One Presence and Power of infinite love, eternal life, wholeness, peace, prosperity and creativity.

Please know that your prayer request is kept in sacred trust and confidence by our ministers and practitioners.

There are four ways to submit a prayer request:

E-mail a prayer request - see our Prayer Request button above
Call 503-296-9922 ext. 120 to leave a prayer request
Place a written prayer request in a Prayer box on Sunday morning
Ask one of our practitioners to pray with you before or after Sunday services

Hospital and Home Visit, phone calls and others requests
Hospital and home visits are a comforting way to receive prayer and emotional support in time of illness. Please let us know if you’d like a visit. Call Rev. Sally Rutis at 503-317-1660

Head of Practitioners

Shannon O'Hurley is a licensed Religious Science Practitioner through United Centers for Spiritual Living and is honored to be serving the New Thought Center for Spiritual Living community. She recently relocated to Oregon from California with her beloved husband, David and their four beautiful daughters. Shannon began her Spiritual journey at Agape in Los Angeles and then settled into the North Hollywood Church of Religious Science community where she studied and served for many years. Prior to her call to ministry, Shannon had the great blessing of working as a professional actor in theatre/television and film for over twenty years. She brings forth her love of Spirit and creative expression as she continues her Spiritual journey and innermost calling, attending the Holmes Institute ministerial program. Shannon has spent over a decade studying the ancient modalities of Feng Shui and Sacred Numerology. She brings joy, gratitude, intuition, humor and a deep dedication to Religious Science principles into her practice. Shannon is available for Spiritual counseling, hospital and home visits and always welcomes the opportunity to pray with members of the community.
