Music Ministry

“Music takes us out of the actual and whispers to us dim secrets that startle our wonder as to who we are, and for what, whence, and whereto.” -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

"We have a song to sing; we have a joy to bring to the world, and love and peace and happiness." -- Ernest Holmes

Purpose & Mission

The purpose of the Music Ministry is to inspire a greater awareness of Spirit, to create an experience of a personal connection with God, and to provide a means for expressing the divinity that flows in, through, and as us.

About Us

Music plays a vital role in the services at New Thought Center for Spiritual Living. Song choices include current and classic hits in various genres - pop, rock, country, gospel, and jazz; original material written by New Thought artists such as Daniel Nahmod, Faith Rivera, and Rickie Byars Beckwith; contemporary Christian music; world music from a variety of cultures and religions; and occasionally, traditional protestant hymns. We employ a professional sound crew and band (piano, bass, drums, and guitar) supplemented by many accomplished musicians who serve in a volunteer capacity, including a robust choir of approximately 50 singers. (See Programs: Choir for more information about the choir.) Instrumentalists, vocal soloists, and experienced vocalists who are interested in singing back up harmonies should contact Music Director, David York to schedule a private audition.
